Easy Things To Do In Mackinaw City, MI that Your Dog Will Love- TWT Approved! TWT, March 7, 2025March 14, 2025 Tommy, Winston and Louie have been pestering us for a while about writing their own blogs, straight from the dog-eye view of things. So, today we decided to let them share some of their favorite things to do in Mackinaw City, MI.Tommy’s Things to Do in Mackinaw City, MI“Mommy said I get to go first because I’m the oldest AND the smartest. Ok, she didn’t say that part about the smartest, but I know that she was thinking it! I’ll bet you’re thinking that I’m going to say my favorite thing about the Mackinaw City area was the food. But that’s NOT what I’m gonna say. Mostly because Mommy and Daddy said I couldn’t have most of it…My favorite thing to do in Mackinaw City, MI was going to the doggie beaches. There was one at our campground, Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground that was the BEST doggie beach ever. NO PEOPLES ALLOWED, ‘cept if they were Mommy and Daddy. The water was the perfect temperature, and it was nice and fresh. I could even sneak a little drink without Daddy freaking out thinking I was going to get some weird doggie disease! Even the bottom of the beach was perfect for doggies- the sand turned into these little stones that were smooth and easy for little dogs to walk on while they splash through the water!Wilderness State ParkThe other beach that we visited was in Wilderness State Park. The first beach that Daddy took us to was NOT dog friendly. There were signs EVERYWHERE saying ‘No Dogs Allowed’.Luckily, Mommy doesn’t give up easily and found a different part of the park that had its very own doggie beach! That one was really cool, too. Lake Michigan is HUGE! I’m glad Daddy and Mommy held on to us so we didn’t float away. This beach had some other doggies playing in the water and chasing sticks. We had to stay away from them ‘cuz I can’t play nice with doggies I don’t know. But, we still found a nice stretch of beach to play on and I splashed around in the water ALOT! That’s probably why the beaches were my favorite thing to do in Mackinaw City, MI because we got to go there and play a lot!”Winston’s Top Things to Do in Mackinaw City, MI“I’ve never wroted a blog before, so I hope I do this right. Mommy’s helping, a-cuz I don’t have disposable thumbs, so I guess she will fix anything that I do wrong. My favorite things to do in Mackinaw City were definitely NOT the beaches. I don’t care that they were specifically for doggies. They look too much like a baftub to me. As the founder of the ‘No Baftub Club’ my motto is ‘No baffies, no thanks, not ever!’What I did like was all the different animals to sniff! At home we have bunnies and squirrels and maybe sometimes a deer. Once, Tommy found a horse to sniff and the horse didn’t like it and he almost got twampled. After that, Mommy said we could only sniff big animals from the car window.Anyway, it was kinda fun to smell all the different animals that Michigan has. I smelled something called a ‘racoon’, and a ‘woodchuck’ and different kinds of bunnies and squirrels! It was lots of fun. Mackinaw City has a lot of woods and areas to walk, so I got to sniff LOTS!All the Smells at the LighthouseOne day, Mommy took me all by myself to go see the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse! They let doggies go inside. I got to sniff all kinds of things in there! I smelled lots of different people and animals. Then, after that, we drove over this big scawry bridge to a farmer’s market. There was lots to see and sniff there, too. One of the new smells I smelled there were these really big white birds. They made lots of noise and flapped their wings any time I got anywhere near them. I never got to really sniff the birds ‘cuz they kept flying away. But, I got to sniff where they were standing before they flewed away!”Alien Auroras“My other favorite thing in Mackinaw City, MI was to see the really cool lights! Mommy says they are called ‘Aurora Borealis’ or the ‘Aurora’ for short. I think they are the awiens talking to us! I decided if that’s how awiens talk, they must be pretty cool because their lights are sure pwetty!”Louie’s Favorite Things to Do in Mackinaw City, MI“Everybody thinks that since I’m new to the family I don’t have a lot of opinions yet. They are pretty wrong. When I got here I might have sounded kinda silly with all my teenager speak, but I didn’t know any better. Now that I’m living with Mommy and Daddy, I’m learning how to talk right, and can say my opinions so everyone understands them! So, my opinion on the best doggie things to do in Mackinaw City, MI is that it’s all pretty cool!I really enjoyed going with Mommy to that Michila-what-cha-ma-call-it (Colonial Michilimackinac). It was fun to see all the soliders and people dressed up. One even talked to me for a long time before she started to do her dishes! She was really nice, and I’ll bet if she had a ball she would have played with me! It was pretty neat to see all the different buildings and stuff from a long time ago.My other favorite thing was watching the sunset over Lake Michigan. It was really cool to walk down the beach and watch the sun set over the water. People claim that doggies can’t see colors, and I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I knew when the sun went down and the sky turned pretty.”Up Next:Thanks for reading our first blog!
